Todd Williams
Operations Manager
Todd is a Field Sales Consultant with over a decade of experience in the window treatment industry, including previously owning his own blind and shade company. He supports installations and sales across Charlotte and Raleigh and is actively growing our presence in Hilton Head. Known for his approachable style and practical expertise, Todd works with a wide range of clients and takes pride in delivering five-star service and seeing customers thrilled with their finished product.
Hamilton Dulin
Design Consultant
Hamilton is a Charlotte native with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Western Carolina University. Since graduating in 2021, he has specialized in in-home design, working with both furniture and window treatments across Western North Carolina, and most recently, Charlotte. With years of experience in Hunter Douglas products, Hamilton is known for his warm personality, clear communication, and commitment to helping clients bring their vision to life.
Shelby Myers
Onboarding Specialist
With over four years of in-home and showroom sales experience, Shelby brings extensive product knowledge and a natural ability to educate and guide clients through the early stages of their project. Shelby helps clients get acquainted with our process and thoughtfully pairs them with the design consultant best suited to bring their vision to life.
Alan Thomas
Senior Installer & Training Manager
Alan is a longstanding member of the A Shade Above Team. Since 2006, Alan has installed plantation shutters, shades & blinds in some of the finest neighborhoods in Charlotte. Since joining our team more than a decade ago, Alan has become our lead installer and has received hundreds of five star reviews from satisfied customers. He is well versed in the installation of our full product line up and capable of handling the most complex residential and commercial projects.
Mason Tatum
Installation Specialist
Mason is a skilled and passionate member of our installation team. Mason is quick and detailed in handling intricate projects, and cares for each and every client's home as his own.
Bandi
Chief Bark Officer (CBO)
Bandi's responsibilities include overseeing employee stress relief through expertly executed belly rubs, maintaining peak morale with her tail-wagging enthusiasm, and conducting surprise "barkitectural" inspections of the office for optimal treat storage.
Iyla Mae
Junior Chewologist
Iyla is our resident Houdini-in-training, renowned for transforming ordinary office supplies into abstract art and exploring the uncharted territories of every nook and cranny. With a boundless curiosity and an insatiable appetite for adventure (or at least office furniture), Iyla keeps us on our toes as we strive to puppy-proof the premises.
Our Story
The Taylor family’s roots in window treatments began in 1993, when Dalton Taylor founded Artisan Shutter alongside his wife, Patti, and his brother, Jeff. That same year Dalton and Patti were married, and together the family began manufacturing plantation shutters—a craft they’ve continued for decades.
In 2008, during an economic downturn, the Taylors acquired A Shade Above, the company you know today. Through steady leadership and a commitment to quality, A Shade Above not only endured but grew. Now with multiple showroom locations throughout North and South Carolina, the business has expanded into one of the region’s leading custom window fashions companies. In 2020, their son Casey joined the company to help guide its continued growth and future expansion.
Today, A Shade Above operates multiple showroom locations across the Carolinas and continues to manufacture its own custom plantation shutters in North Carolina—a distinction that sets us apart from most window treatment retailers.
