Chad Alexander
Sales Manager, Partner
With over 25 years of experience in the window treatment industry, Chad Alexander has been a part of A Shade Above for more than 13 years. His journey began with hands-on work like sanding, painting, and framing Plantation Shutters, eventually leading him to his current role as a Design Consultant since 2010. After serving the Charlotte client base for 7 years, he relocated his family to North Myrtle Beach to lead our showroom operation. Chad also heads A Shade Above's Commercial division, handling large projects for builders and architects across the Carolinas.
Jennifer Hardee
Design Consultant
Jennifer is a talented member of our sales team in our North Myrtle Beach location. She specializes in all types of window coverings, including drapery!
Matt Mullman
Installation Specialist
Matt is a friendly, hardworking member of our install team. His height and long reach make him great for installs (it definitely comes in handy), and he’s always got a smile on his face. Matt is easy to talk to, great with customers, and brings a positive attitude to every job.

Carter is a positive, dependable member of our North Myrtle Beach install team. He’s always smiling, eager to jump in and help wherever needed, and brings a great attitude to every job.
Our Story
The Taylor family’s roots in window treatments began in 1993, when Dalton Taylor founded Artisan Shutter alongside his wife, Patti, and his brother, Jeff. That same year Dalton and Patti were married, and together the family began manufacturing plantation shutters — a craft they’ve continued for decades.
In 2008, during an economic downturn, the Taylors acquired A Shade Above, the company you know today. Through steady leadership and a commitment to quality, A Shade Above not only endured but grew. Now with multiple showroom locations throughout North and South Carolina, the business has expanded into one of the region’s leading custom window fashions companies. In 2020, their son Casey joined the company to help guide its continued growth and future expansion.
