Insolroll Oasis® fabric openness factors (opacities) range from 3% to 48%. That indicates the percentage of the open weave: A higher percentage means more visibility and light. Fabric colors also determine the amount of glare and heat reduction; light-colored choices reduce more heat, while dark fabrics minimize glare.

• Aurora: A solar screen fabric woven with vinyl-coated polyester yarns into a 2 x 2 basketweave. It has 27% polyester and 73% PVC solar fabric for superior view-through. Choose from 3% and 5% openness.
• Natural Weave Linen: Insolroll® uses FR solar screen fabrics woven with varying colors and a slubbed texture to create an elegant, linen-like aesthetic for their Natural Weave Linen shades. This style offers a 3% openness factor.
• Palisade: A client favorite, Palisade works beautifully on expansive patios. It’s weather-resistant with added strength from thick, 165 Tex core yarns. Choose 3% to 5% openness in lighter colors or 10% in Charcoal and Charcoal/Cocoa.

Insolroll® opaque fabrics block light entirely, with maximum coverage for spaces that require privacy or complete sun control.

• Tuff Screen®: This is an Oasis® exterior patio screen that’s three times stronger than typical insect screens. It also resists tears and holds up to active pets. This screen has 46% openness.
• Tuff Screen® No-See-Ums: Also designed to protect against the elements and insects, this vinyl-coated polyester insect screen has 42% openness to keep out the tiniest insects, like biting midges.

The simplest way to answer this question is to sit outside on your deck and patio. What makes it uncomfortable: glare, heat, nosy neighbors, or insects? And what benefits do you want? Prioritize what’s most important. A sheer cloth material with a higher openness factor is the best option to maintain visibility.
