Poly vs Wood

Poly

Unrivaled Moisture Resistance: Polyurethane won’t expand, contract, warp, or rot when exposed to moisture. Say goodbye to the hassles of maintenance caused by moisture-related issues.

Durability and Longevity: Poly shutters are designed to last, ensuring that your investment stands strong for years to come.

Customizable Beauty: Enjoy the freedom to tailor your Poly shutters to your unique style and preferences. Express yourself with a wide range of finishes and colors that match your interior perfectly.

Wood

Unparalleled Durability: Wood shutters are renowned for their strength and resilience. They can withstand the test of time and daily use.

Endless Customization: Wood shutters offer the flexibility to create a truly unique look for your space. Choose from a wide array of wood types, finishes, and designs to match your style.

Consistency in Pricing: Unlike Polyurethane, wood prices do not fluctuate significantly. You can count on stable pricing for your wood shutter selection.

Polyurethane Disadvantages

Installation Challenges:
Polyurethane is heavier and more flexible at large dimensions, making installation more challenging.

Limited Panel Options:
Standard-size windows may require center-open panels, resulting in a 4″ vertical obstruction that reduces visibility and light.

Reduced Customizations:
Special notches and customizations such as door cutouts and arches are not available with poly. Only wood can be machine cut into special shapes, where poly cannot.

Other Shutter Styles

Divider Rail Shutters

Divider Rail

A divider rail is a horizontal bar that separates the panel into upper and lower sections. It provides support, particularly in tall panels over 80”. It can also aesthetically be used to hide a large sash in the middle of a window.

Split Tilt Rod Shutters

Split Tilt Rod

Split tilt is achieved by splitting the control rod in half, allowing louvers to move freely in separate sections. Split tilt offers visibility and light at the top, while offering privacy below. Split Tilt can be placed at your desired height, typically at the Sash of the window.

Front Control Rod Shutters

No Divider Rail

Sleek and clean, shutters without a divider rail offer an uninterrupted view, letting light cascade softly through their angled louvers. Their unified form adds a touch of modern minimalism to any window.
